[Loki had looked around at the various businesses and while the library was tempting...he had goals. Besides just not wanting to be bored. The shop made him smile though, as he headed inside and asked after the owner. Clothilda had seen his value as a salesperson, and also immediately taken to putting him in an outfit. Salesperson and model it was, and Loki was not unhappy about this. Both amused him and put his talents to good use.]
[Yes, he's curious. He likes gifts. He's terrible about giving them, and didn't actually realize it was holiday time until like... now... but getting them is fun.]
Re: First Meeting--At Clothilda's Tailor and garment shop
Jack is in the back when Loki comes in for work that day, sitting in the back with a pair of trousers that need the hems let out a bit. He looks up and blinks a few times. That really looks like... hrm.
Loki had developed a 'work' uniform--or at least a sign that he would be working as opposed to there casually otherwise. An apron in a pale shade of brown, with pockets that held a pen and small pad of paper. Useful for figuring out costs and taking notes, but also not something one would just 'casually' wear. Raising an eyebrow as the other seemed to stumble, he just nodded though. "Hello. How has business been today?"
"Fairly, um, quiet so far." Jack is watching Loki with open curiosity. The only network message Loki's made so far has been text, so he hasn't heard the voice or seen the face. "I'm just working on things that came in yesterday. Are you new?"
Quiet hmm? Well, that wasn't always a bad thing even if it might make for a less interesting work-shift. "To this world and the shop both." May as well answer that easily. "I looked into my options and felt this might be the more interesting and useful place to seek employment. Fortunately, Clothilda graciously agreed. I'm not so good with needle and thread beyond very basic mending, but I do know how to converse with people and be persuasive."
( She rifled around for a moment before pulling out a small bouquet of daisies, along with a box. Inside said box was a wooden pendant) I know you didn't like the weird dog gifts you got - hoped you might like this one?
[He investigates the box curious, and his expression winds up... complicated. It's a wolf. Jack isn't sure if that's worse than a dog or better. But it's well-done, artistically, and if he's wearing a wolf pendant, well, he can certainly never forget where he came from can he?]
Thank you, Night Sky. It's beautiful workmanship. Yours?
Yeah, that... does sound like a trickster god. Though what Jack saw and read about from the whole New York invasion didn't really sound like there was much conversing or persuading going on.
"More than me. I would rather sit and sew, and sometimes let Clothilda dress me up like a dressmaker dummy to try things out on. I'm Jack, by the way. And you are... Loki? Yes?" He pauses, then admits, "I saw you on TV."
Loki pauses at the recognition, then nods. "I am, and you must mean the invasion. That was about 5 years ago, roughly." His tone was carefully neutral and polite, although he did let himself smile. "I've no intention of attempting that here, if it helps."
"It would be much harder to do here, without an alien army and the infinity stone staff," Jack points out with raised brows. "But it is good that you're not intending it. That would probably be messy."
"No, no, no. I don't try to get on anyone's bad side. I prefer to be friends with everyone, if possible." But he is annoying to some people, he knows. Loki might be one of those people. Jack holds up both hands peaceably. "I just talk too much. You should ignore me, clearly."
Loki snorted and rolled his eyes. "I'd be foolish to ignore you, considering you know about me in a way few here do." But as he moved to finish tying his apron, Loki kept his tone even and normal--peevishness gone. "It was about 5 years ago for me, and I've grown since then. I've no reason to repeat a failed tactic, especially here."
Well, for one, I was going to make a Jack Russell but I couldn't find a picture of what they looked like. Also, wolves are cooler, and I figured you liked dogs.
[Jack is not particularly fond of dogs, really-- he doesn't dislike them, but they have never been fond of him given the wolf thing, so he just avoids them. But the wolf at least makes some sense. He'll keep it, if just as a reminder.]
It's okay. Jack Russell dogs look kind of silly anyway. They have these short little legs and stubby little tails. Wolves are definitely better for jewelry.
"It was longer ago for me," Jack admits, picking up the needle again. "It was the year 2023 when I was brought here. I did not hear about you again after the New York fight, at least, so you must not have come back to Earth."
Loki would not point out that he'd been having a discussion about the wisdom of that very thing when they'd been caught by Thanos. It wouldn't make any sense to this man. What was important, was that Loki had no plans of taking over or invading this world. There was too much about it he still didn't know.

Yeah. You like it? I can always make something else if you don't.

Just out of curiosity. Why a wolf?

[He wraps his hand around the trinket.]
Thank you, Night Sky. For thinking of me.

( She smiled and leaned over - giving him plenty of room to lean away before she went to hug him. )
You're welcome, sweet thing. I owe you anyway, for helping me back when I was off being miserable.
