Age: I am over 40 :)
Other Characters: NA
Name: Jack Russell
Canon: Werewolf by Night, MCU version
Canon Point: Post the special, after he and Ted have gotten their sushi and gotten Ted home
Age: late 30s (apparent), early 200s (actual)
Backstory:
MCU wiki. His age is not listed there, as his history in the show is very sparse, but it was mentioned in an interview with his actor.
Personality:
First and foremost, Jack is a caring and compassionate individual. He takes great care never to hurt people, always trying to protect them and keep them safe, whether from hunters, other monsters, or himself. He rushes to reassure Ted as soon as he finds him, and his first instinct when finding Elsa hurt is to offer to help-- and he is clearly disappointed when she tells him no, trying again when she clearly doesn't know what she's doing with her tourniquet. He is trying to live his life better than his parents who passed down his curse. Again and again he puts himself in danger to help his friends, particularly Ted.
He's also curious, asking questions of people who he knows would kill him if they knew a little bit about him, poking at the bloodstone even before the competition begins, always wanting to know more. It drives him to move around and learn what he can of the world, as it changes and grows. This doesn't necessarily mean he understands everything-- he picked up a small bomb without knowing how to use it, and there's a clear moment of near-slapstick when the bomb doesn't work as he was told it would and he panics a little-- but he can't learn if he doesn't try.
Curiosity and openness lead to adaptability, readily changing his plan when he needs to, such as winning Elsa to his side when he stumbles on her. He is not necessarily good at plans, given his plan for rescuing Ted involved a lot of fast talking, skating by on charisma, winging it, and "I don't know, I'll think of something", but having to make decisions on the fly to complete his goals definitely works for him most of the time. He also has an uncanny ability to know when to run versus when to try and talk, though his preference is always to try and talk.
For all he loves his people and will always come to their aid, Jack is at heart restless and hates to be stuck in one place for too long. It leaves him itchy and unhappy. It means he leaves people behind more often than not, and can only hope that those people will still be there when he returns. He will always return, it just might take months to years. And unfortunately for his tendency to go too far into places he might not be welcome, Jack is also a pacifist. Two hundred years and change old, and he never did learn how to fight, nor does he have any desire to. He won't harp on it when other people want to fight, of course, but he has no plans ever to learn himself, and no qualms hiding behind someone else who happens to know how to defend themselves, and thus him. He's not cowardly, though he has no problems being seen as such if it helps his case, he just does not want to fight.
The mirror to Jack's cleverness is that he can be overconfident in his own skills at talking his way into something or out of trouble. Sure, he doesn't fight, but he can charm anybody into letting him see what he needs, and work out a deal with anyone who wants payment. Given his lifespan and experience in his own world, walking into a gathering of people who would want to kill him if they found out what he was in order to save a friend based on his charisma alone, it's not really an unearned confidence. The ruined world of Monstertrucker is less familiar than his, though, and he might be more likely to misstep until he learns the culture here.
Powers/Abilities:
Werewolf transformation. On the night of the full moon, Jack transforms into a half-wolf, half-man monster with a powerful prey drive, exaggerated aggression, and greatly heightened strength, speed, agility, and healing factor. He has cunning, but none of his human alter-ego's self-awareness and care for human life. Still, he tends to only attack those who can conceivably be considered a threat. Unfortunately, confronted with a werewolf, most people start screaming and fighting, so they wind up being categorized as a threat, or running, and being categorized as prey.
Human form perks. In human form, Jack has enhanced senses of hearing and smell, and a slightly enhanced regeneration, but nothing more. He is, in fact, red-green colorblind and cannot eat chocolate. It's very sad.
Mundane skills. Jack is a smooth talker, a quick thinker, and speaks multiple languages. He has basic knowledge of many survival tasks, from finding water, building a fire, cooking over said fire, farming, mending, first aid, hotwiring a car, and basic construction work. He's had a lot of time to learn a wide variety of trades, over his long life, and though we'll avoid the pun, he still wouldn't say he's master of any of them.
Inventory: The clothes on his back, a nice suit he got back into at Ted's place, and a cloak from the hunter cult.
Game Plans: To be the Mom Friend. More seriously, Jack is a werewolf being thrown into a monster transformation game: he's been here before and he does kind of know what he's talking about a little bit. But also I want to have him make friends who will help remind him to look after himself, too, and also keep him from getting himself killed by trying to talk down one of the more violent monsters.
Monster Choice: Yokai (kitsune type), Infernal (hellhound type), Taurus (centaur type)
Vehicle Choice: RV/camper van, spacious type; aiming to add defensive stats over time
Sample: TDM top-level
Monster Traits:
Multiple tails sprouted after his first werewolf form, total of six.
Swift reflexes when attacked, improving his ability to dodge attacks
White streaks in his blue-gray hair
Spirit marble which takes energy from or gives energy to a person when they kiss
Illusion magic to create both audible and visible illusions, though not solid
Storm restlessness/storm form will feed on his natural restless nature as well as his werewolf form. He will become sheepdog-sized fox with six tails and phantom fire in his eyes, trailing from his tails, and left in his footsteps.
Phantom fire magic which can produce ghostly flames to illuminate area or shield a person. These flames do not generate heat or burn, but can become true fire with effort.
Prehensile tail lingering from the naga changes of March, transforming one of his six fox tails (1/6)
Fox ears in place of his human ears, flexible and sensitive, albeit not very big compared to a red fox
Pack Link with his close companions, lingering after the intellect devourer swarm and the psychic plants during May. (2/6)
